He did not need a letter, but when you get a letter (cons a mosque official stationary) imam or priest acting for the wedding, and the proof that he is returning to Turkey, which could help you. Each letter of the Imam must also be notarized, and to contact only receive information. Also in the application that you must prove that he was asked how he relates to marry the couple, which will give your property and the funds were raised when the United States. A bank statement showing a Turkish bank, a credit card and travel insurance (in case of illness in the United States) also contributes.
Also passports must be machine readable, at least 6 months validity always there, and proof of a travel ticket tour in Istanbul.

It really is not necessary a letter from you, but you can send one if you wish. or send a wedding invitation. must submit an application for a tourist visa and benefit from their own though.
